Winthrop Integrated Learning through Drama
SDD August 23rd- School Drama Workshop
W.P.S and School Drama So Far...
The opportunity was given to 4 x teachers from Winthrop Primary School to take place in the Western Australian pilot program of School Drama in collaboration with Barking Gecko Theatre Company.
Staff selected Lisa Chamberlain, Deanne Maher, Alison Kelly and Anna Stanton joined a team (the Winthrop Integrated Learning through Drama- Team) dedicated to showcasing the professional learning at future team or staff meetings.
During Term Two, the WILD team developed pre testing based on current performance data from our school’s NAPLAN ‘red flags’ i.e. vocabulary in literacy. The team participated alongside 13 of their Winthrop P.S. colleagues in professional learning prior to commencing the program with Sydney Theatre Company and Sydney University School Drama developers.

Term 3 Commencement Update
Commencing in Term Three, selected teachers have begun working alongside actor/educators (Mark and Georgia to create programs based on current literature used in the classroom over a 7 week period. Students have commenced the pre testing and from Week 2 have started their integrated Drama sessions with their actor/educators.
